Why Not Start A New Holiday Tradition This Year
Give new meaning to "decked" out for the Holidays
The holidays are a time of family, togetherness and a deep appreciation for love and life. They're also the time for stresses, messes and excesses. Don't you wish you could have all the wonders of winter without all the work? You can - and it only takes one person to inspire a new family tradition. That person is you!
Families who have experienced a holiday cruise have responded to me with rave reviews. Many have come back year after year - some to the same destinations, some to new ones.
Ships Prepare for a Festive Season
Special holiday menus give you the warm comfort food of Thanksgiving, Christmas and Hanukkah so your family doesn't miss out on their favorite goodies. You get to relax and enjoy the experience without all the prep work - or the clean up.
Vessels are decked out in hoilday decor. Special events include everything from turkey carving classes to gingerbread house building challenges. Maybe even strolling carolers filling the air with the sounds of the season.
Probably the most unusual event is the continual falling snow in the atriums of Princess ships. The innovative snow-making process creates falling flakes that vanish on contact, letting passengers enjoy the excitement of snow flurries without the need to bundle up.
Depending on the cruise line, your cruise may also include a reading of "The Night Before Christmas" by either the captain or cruise director, and a holiday variety show adds a seasonal element to the ship's entertainment offerings. Religious services are held as well, and passengers can attend midnight mass or an inter-denominational church service performed by onboard clergy.
There are currently some great deals out there for holiday sailings. But, they won't be around long. Holiday cruises are among the first to sell out.
